Luca Mottola is assistant professor at Politecnico di Milano and a Senior Researcher at the Swedish Institute of Computer Science. Previously, he was a Research Scholar at the University of Southern California (USA, 2006-2007). He completed his Ph.D. studies at Politecnico di Milano (Italy) in 2008. His research interests include the design, implementation, and validation of modern distributed systems, with the current focus on Internet of Things. He has received two Best Paper Awards at ACM/IEEE IPSN, the EWSN/CONET European Best Ph.D. Thesis Award, and the ACM SenSys Best Demonstration Award, all flagship venues in the field. He was also listed amongst Postscapes "Internet of Things Top 100 Thinkers" and has received the 2011 Cor Baayen Award for the most promising young researcher in computer science. He routinely serves on the TPCs of major conferences in the field, and gives invited lectures and tutorials in top conferences, summer schools, and graduate courses.
